About Me

Rachel Jameson

I’m a writer, aspiring to become
a published author! I write both
Georgian-Set and Regency-Set Historicals.
I’m a member of RWA, LARA, The Beau Monde,
Romantic Inks, and The Romance Divas.

I’ve always loved books. I devour every book I can get my hands on. One has never been enough for me! I used to go to the public library, and barely make the walk home because the books in my arms were piled high above my head! Books take me to another world- one where anything can, and does, happen!

From early on, my favorite books were fairy tales and mythology, especially Greek mythology. From there I branched out into any sort of fantasy I could read, moving quickly on to nearly every genre. As I grew older, historical fiction became my main read. I loved delving into the past, especially seeing a fictionalized version of someone’s fascinating life.

The only genre I had never read was Romance. I’d thought it was all ridiculous: Fabio-like heroes, bodice-ripping, etc. It wasn’t until 2007 that I picked up a Romance novel on a lark. I thought the blurb on the back sounded interesting enough, and it was on sale, so I’d try it.

I fell in love. Head-over-heels, can’t-believe-I’ve-never-read-this, in love. What a fantastic genre! As I read more and more, and more… and more, I couldn’t stop. I kept buying my old favorites, but invariably they sat in a “to be read” pile as I was reading more romances. The romance novels that appealed to me the most were the ones set in the Georgian and Regency eras. I found myself re-reading some of the best ones, just to live a bit more of those worlds.

What was really amazing, was that while I read these fantastic books, other stories started to swirl around in my head. My own stories! It had been years since I’d written anything, but suddenly the ideas started to pour out of me. I could barely write down the main concepts fast enough before an entirely different story pried its way out of my head.

Everything is starting to move along now. I’m looking forward to writing more each day, and eventually getting published.  I’ve met some of the incredible authors whose  writing I’ve fallen in love with, and I’ve been lucky enough to find a wonderful forum called Romance Divas.  There I’ve met wonderful authors, who are always willing to help in any way.

The only problem I’ve found with writing again, is that I’m not reading as much as I’d like to!

Aaah…. the trials and tribulations of a writer. :)

Originally from a little ski resort town called Sun Valley, Idaho, I now live in a big resort town with (woohoo!) no snow: Los Angeles. I was so fortunate to grow up in such an amazing place; who I am and what I write was definitely formed by life in Sun Valley. From the Summer Symphony to the Writers’ Conference, from the arts festivals to just the everyday activities and community, I was surrounded by music, art, and best yet, books. It is because of this that my characters have a deep love of books and the arts.

Thanks for checking me out, and I hope you’ll come by
